This policy covers how NCVO uses personal information collected while you use the ICT Development Services website.
What we collect
As with most websites, the ICT Development Services website maintains a log of activity on its site. Your IP address will be recorded, along with other information which may or may not be supplied by your browser. This includes the address of the site that referred you to the ICT Development Services website, the type and version of the browser you are using, the operating system you use, and the screen resolution at which you viewed the site.
This information is used solely to help us improve our delivery of the services on the site. This may involve us or our external evaluators contacting you to follow up on any comments you have made.
Volunteered information
You do not need to supply any personal information in order to view the site.
In order to subscribe to the ICT Development Services newsletter or make use of specific features such as the document store for local infrastructure organisations, you do need to register. Registration requires that you supply the following details:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your organisation’s name
- Your consent (if you choose to give it) to receive the ICT Development Services newsletter
This information is used for the following purposes:
- To monitor the range of organisations who are making use of the material on the site.
- To send newsletters and other communications to your email address if you have selected to opt-in to such communications.
- To send password reminders in case you forget your password.
We will store the information you supplied for as long as you use the ICT Development Services website, unless you request that we remove it using the “delete my account” link on the user details page.
NCVO also collects your name and email address if you use the contact form on the site to send us a message. This information will only be used to respond to your message, and will not be stored.
Please note that messages sent using the contact form are sent by unencrypted email and thus may not be secure and remain confidential while being transmitted to us.
Cookies
When you visit the ICT Development Services website, the pages you view, along with small text files called ‘cookies’, are downloaded onto your computer.
Each time you visit the ICT Development Services website your computer will download a session cookie. This cookie only remains on your computer till you close your browser. This cookie is not used to identify you personally in anyway. We use session cookies to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how visitors use the site. This information helps us improve the sites structure and functionality.
Your computer will also download a persistent cookie when you first visit the site. These remain in your browsers cookie store between browsing sessions. Persistent cookies allow us to recognise repeat visitors to the site. Persistent cookies are also used to allow registered users to use the site without logging in on every visit.

Protecting your information
NCVO is serious about protecting your privacy and personal information.
Your personal details will not be supplied to any parties outside of NCVO or used for any purposes other than those listed above, unless we are required to do so by law.
We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Access to your information
If you have registered with the site you can view and amend the information we have stored about you by logging into the site and accessing the account details page. If you have lost your password you can request a new one be sent to your registered email address. In other cases you should contact us to check details.
